
VOV.VN - As many as 200 billionaires from Europe are expected to visit Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh to attend the Art For Climate Festival, which is scheduled to take place from January 13 to 19, 2025.
According to the province’s online portal, the festival will attract the participation of more than 80,000 people, including 200 European billionaires, who will arrive in the UNESCO-recognised World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay by private superyachts.
At a recently announced ceremony, French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet shared that the event is a combination of art and environmental responsibility to raise public awareness of protecting the planet, in line with current challenges.
In the first nine months of this year, Ha Long City welcomed 9.2 million visitors, a 33% increase year on year. Of the total, foreign arrivals were 2.13 million, up 2.3 times compared to the same period last year. The total tourism revenue stood at an estimated VND20,300 billion, an annual rise of 34%.
To attract tourists during the fall and winter months, the local authorities have proactively maximised the effectiveness of the transportation and tourism infrastructure and focused on drawing cruise ship passengers, all of whom travel through Ha Long International Passenger Port.
The Ha Long Bay Management Board has also begun surveying and earmarking exclusive islands and beaches specifically to serve international super-rich guests with the goal of attracting more high-spending tourists to the scenic spot.
