Hanoi welcomes over 18 million visitors in first half of 2026

VOV.VN - Hanoi received an estimated 18.01 million visitors during the past six months of this year , including more than 4.6 million international arrivals, according to a report released by the municipal Department of Tourism on June 17.

The figure represents more than half of the city's full-year target and marks double-digit growth compared with the same period in 2025.

Tourism revenue totaled more than VND74 trillion (US$2.8 billion), up 21.1% year-on-year, while average hotel occupancy exceeded 65% during the January-June period.

The capital currently has 3,761 accommodation establishments offering more than 71,200 rooms. Among them are 66 hotels and serviced apartment complexes rated from one to five stars, catering to demand from high-end travelers.

According to the Department of Tourism, Hanoi is home to the country's largest concentration of historical sites and cultural heritage assets.

The city also received international recognition in 2026. In Tripadvisor's Travelers' Choice Best of the Best Destinations 2026 awards, Hanoi was ranked the second most-loved destination in Asia. It also placed fourth among the world's top destinations, seventh among top cultural destinations and 11th among top food destinations.

These accolades have helped promote Hanoi as a safe and attractive destination with a rich cultural identity while further strengthening its position on the regional and global tourism map.

For the second half of 2026, the city’s tourism sector aims to exceed its annual targets by welcoming more than 9 million international visitors and 27.27 million domestic travelers.
