VOV.VN - Vietnam has emerged as the top overseas destination for travellers from Hyderabad, one of southern India's fastest-growing metropolitan areas, surpassing traditional favourites such as Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in the southern Indian state of Telangana, passenger traffic from Hyderabad to Vietnam rose from around 35,000 during the 2024–2025 period to approximately 95,000 in 2025–2026, making Vietnam one of the fastest-growing international destinations served by the airport.
The sharp increase reflects Vietnam's growing attractiveness among Indian travelers, driven by its natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, diverse cuisine, competitive travel costs, improved flight connectivity and increasingly favourable visa policies.
Several tour operators said Vietnam has become one of the most sought-after overseas destinations among travelers in Hyderabad.
Representatives of Flamingo Travels said bookings for Vietnam tours have increased by around 60% compared with the same period last year. Meanwhile, Travel Trust reported that Vietnam packages now account for about 30% of its international tour sales.
Indian tour operators attribute Vietnam’s popularity to its diverse landscapes, beaches, rich cultural heritage, distinctive cuisine and competitive prices. Package tours to the country are often significantly cheaper than many other international destinations while still offering quality services.
Air connectivity has also played a key role. Direct flights linking Hyderabad with Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, launched in 2025, have cut travel time to around 4.5-5 hours.
Popular destinations among Hyderabad travellers include Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc. Demand is also rising for cultural and culinary experiences, beach holidays and outdoor activities.
India has become one of Vietnam's fastest-growing international source markets, supported by its large population, expanding middle class and rising demand for overseas travel. Indian travelers are increasingly seeking destinations that offer relatively short flight times, good value for money and a diverse range of experiences.
With expanding air connectivity, favourable visa policies and a broad portfolio of tourism products, Vietnam is well positioned to strengthen its appeal among Indian travelers and sustain robust growth in this important market.
VOV.VN - Moving past Thailand, Vietnam has emerged as the fastest-growing tourism destination in Southeast Asia for Indian tourists, The Economic Times of India has unveiled in its latest article.
