VOV.VN - Phu Quoc island in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang received 430 Czech tourists on October 27, making it the first flight to the island from Prague.
The tourists were warmly welcomed by local authorities, with the group scheduled to stay in Phu Quoc for one or two weeks.
The southern island will then continue to welcome charter flights from Prague to up April, 2024 with a frequency of one flight per week.
Phu Quoc has been dubbed the ‘pearl island’ and is blessed with clear blue water beaches such as Bai Sao and Bai Dai, along with plenty of local specialties including seafood, pepper, and pearls, among others.
Last year it was selected as one of the 25 best islands in the world by readers of magazine Travel Leisure of the United States.
Furthermore, the largest Vietnamese island was also voted by readers of Condé Nast Traveler in sixth place in the top 10 resort islands in Asia for 2022.
The past nine months has seen the island city welcome over 4.7 million visitors for sightseeing and leisure activities, up 15.5% annually. Of the figure, the number of foreign arrivals nearly tripled to 470,538 compared to the same period from last year.
