VOV.VN - The central province of Quang Nam is making a plan in order to receive foreign visitors following the launch of a “vaccine passport” pilot model to be applied in Phu Quoc this November.
Nguyen Thanh Hong, director of Quang Nam’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said on September 30 that local authorities are completing a plan and will present it to both the Prime Minister and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to ask for permission.
This proposal aims to gradually resume tourism services in the locality and promote Quang Nam as a safe and attractive destination.
“Safety will be given top priority, so we are speeding up vaccination among the local population,” said Hong.
Providing that the COVID-19 vaccination rate reaches 70% in Quang Nam, then the locality will be ready to reopen for tourism, he added.
Quang Nam is set to hold a tourism conference in mid-October, during which it will unveil its plan of receiving domestic tourists first before welcoming back foreign visitors.
Quang Nam’s tourism industry had achieved an annual growth rate of 21.3% throughout the 2016 to 2019 period. In 2019 alone, the province welcomed approximately 7.8 million guests, but the figure fell to 1.5 million due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
