VOV.VN - Vietnam Airlines officially launched the Upstream Check-in (UCI) service from January 1, allowing passengers traveling from mainland China or Macao to Vietnam or vice versa to conduct direct check-in procedures when transiting at Hong Kong International Airport.
The UCI service is expected to offer maximum convenience for passengers, who are only required to complete procedures once at the departure point such as providing their passports, receiving boarding passes, and sending their luggage directly to the final destination.
Accordingly, passengers only need to have their visas and passport checked again in Hong Kong (China), which will help them save between 30 and 40 minutes for connecting flights.
At present, UCI services in Hong Kong (China) have been deployed at seven seaports and one land port in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) region, with the participation of 30 major international airlines.
Passengers can also use UCI services at Zhuhai land port and seaports, including Shekou (Shenzhen), Furong (Shenzhen), Zhongshan, Nansha (Guangzhou), Humen (Dongguan), Pazhou (Guangzhou), and Macao maritime port.
At present, Vietnam Airlines is operating direct flights between Hanoi and Hong Kong (China) with a frequency of seven flights per week.
The carrier is anticipated to launch additional direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong (China) in 2025 as part of efforts to meet the rising demand among passengers and bolster trade, tourism, and economic co-operation among regions.
VOV.VN - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has been ranked among the top 10 most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region for 2024, according to Cirium, an aviation data analytics company and a strategic partner of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
National-flag carrier Vietnam Airlines is set to elevate travel experience for passengers with the launch of premium economy class across its entire domestic flight network from January 14, 2025.
