Hue launches events to boost tourism on National Day holiday

VOV.VN - Hue is rolling out a series of cultural and tourism activities and offering free admission at major heritage sites to attract visitors during the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre said free admission will be offered at Hue Nam Temple during the Hue Nam Temple Festival from August 18 to 22, creating favourable conditions for residents and pilgrims to attend religious ceremonies and pay their respects.

The Hue Nam Temple Festival, also known as Hon Chen Temple Festival, is recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage and is associated with the practice of worshipping the Mother Goddesses of the Three Realms, an element of Vietnamese beliefs that UNESCO has inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The five-day festival is expected to attract 20,000-30,000 participants, with a range of religious ceremonies and activities taking place on the Perfume River and at Hue Nam Temple, Hai Cat Village Communal House and the Holy Mother Temple on Chi Lang Street in Phu Xuan Ward.

Besides, Hue will waive entrance fees for Vietnamese citizens at the sites comprising the Complex of Hue Monuments on August 19 and September 2. This initiative aims to enable local residents and domestic tourists to visit, experience, and gain a deeper understanding of the unique historical and cultural values of the Complex of Hue Monuments.

A number of other festivals and cultural events will also take place in Hue around the National Day holiday.

The Hue Wonderverse Music Fest 2026, part of the Hue International Heritage and Music Festival, will run from August 30 to September 1 at the Hue City Sports Centre Square, with free admission for residents and visitors.

From August 29 to 31, Thuy Xuan Ward will host the Hue Thanh Tra Pomelo Festival, celebrating a specialty product closely associated with the former imperial capital. Visitors to the festival can sample and purchase Thanh Tra pomelos, while also exploring displays of Thanh Tra products, One Commune One Product (OCOP) items and other local specialties.

Additionally, the Hue tourist train connecting Hue to Phong Nha – Ke Bang (via Quang Tri Province) is scheduled to launch on August 29. This offers travelers a new way to explore the journey from Hue—Vietnam’s unique cultural hub—to Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, a World Natural Heritage site celebrated for its magnificent cave systems, primeval forests, and unique geological and geomorphological features.

In the opening seven months of 2026, Hue welcomed over 5 million visitors, with tourism revenue exceeding VND12 trillion, a 1.6-fold increase compared to the same period in 2025.
