Da Nang proposes broader cooperation with Indonesia across various fields

Da Nang and Indonesia have maintained cooperative ties in trade, investment and tourism in recent years.

In 2025, Da Nang’s exports to Indonesia hit US$15.5 million, while imports totalled US$110.7 million. The two sides have regularly organised trade and investment promotion activities while enhancing tourism connectivity.

A direct air route linking Bali and Da Nang began operations in March 2026 with four flights per week. During the past five months of 2026, Da Nang welcomed more than 28,700 Indonesian visitors, helping boost exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.

Ambassador Adam M. Tugio praised Da Nang’s socio-economic achievements in recent years and reaffirmed that Indonesia attaches importance to cooperation with Vietnam.

He also expressed hope for closer connectivity and greater cooperation between Indonesia and Da Nang in such areas as economics, trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

Hung  called on the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam to continue supporting efforts to establish formal friendship and cooperation relations between Da Nang and Denpasar, Bali, with a view to signing a memorandum of understanding covering tourism, culture, sports and economic cooperation.

The city also hopes the embassy will help promote investment opportunities to Indonesian investors in key projects in Da Nang, including the High-Tech Park, seaports, urban infrastructure, tourism ports, the International Financial Centre and the Free Trade Zone.

According to Hung, as Indonesia steps up digital technology cooperation with Vietnam, Da Nang also hopes to participate in bilateral cooperation programmes in smart city development, digital transformation and high technology.

The municipal leader  said he hopes the ambassador will continue creating favourable conditions for Da Nang to promote and expand cooperation opportunities in tourism, socio-economic development and industry, while encouraging more Indonesian investors to explore opportunities in the city.

He added that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia, as well as cooperation between Da Nang and Indonesian localities, is expected to enter a new phase of development with a renewed vision, in line with the shared direction set by both nations’ senior leaders.
