VOV.VN - The People’s Committee of Dak Lak Province and the Government Administration of Champasak Province (Laos) signed a memorandum of cooperation for the 2026-2030 period on August 15.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the Dak Lak Durian Festival 2026 to further materialize special solidarity and comprehensive ties between the two localities.
Under the 2026-2030 framework, both sides agreed to step up cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, education and training, human resources development, culture, and security.
The two provinces will enhance business-to-business connections, trade and investment promotion, experience sharing in agricultural processing, and the development of joint tourism products.
Dak Lak and Champasak aim to increase bilateral trade and services value by 15-20% annually and launch 5 to 10 investment projects over the next five years.
Nguyen Thien Van, Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak provincial People's Committee, noted that expanding economic ties will create fresh impetus for bilateral relations.
"I hope economic cooperation becomes a new catalyst for relations between the two provinces by connecting businesses, expanding trade, promoting investment, and sharing agricultural processing expertise to gradually build joint programs suited to each locality's strengths," Van said.
Alongside economic ties, both sides will expand agricultural cooperation, technical exchanges, and human resources training. Dak Lak will continue providing five full university scholarships annually for Champasak officials and students, while Champasak will grant two Lao-language scholarships for Dak Lak personnel and students.
The two provinces also consented to maintain cultural, sports, educational, and people-to-people exchanges, while strengthening security coordination, particularly in information sharing and anti-drug law enforcement.
VOV.VN - The Dak Lak Durian Festival 2026, scheduled from August 15 to September 2, is expected to highlight the province's ambition to strengthen its position as Vietnam's durian hub, promote it as an emerging destination on the regional agricultural tourism map, and enhance the value chain of the durian industry.
