Dutch firm signs MoU to study US$125 mln waste-to-energy project in Tay Ninh

VOV.VN - An investment promotion conference held recently by the soutthern province of Tay Ninh in Amsterdam on June 23 (local time) is expected to open up new, practical and sustainable cooperation opportunities with European partners.

A highlight of the event was the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Dutch company Harvest Waste B.V and the Tay Ninh Department of Industry and Trade to study investment in a waste-to-energy plant using European technology, with projected capital of more than US$125 million.

In his speech at the conference, Secretary of the Tay Ninh provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Quyet emphasized that cooperation between Vietnam and the Netherlands continues to deepen in both scope and substance.

He expressed hope that Tay Ninh will continue to play an important role in the both nations’ comprehensive partnership by leveraging mutual strengths in logistics, high-tech agriculture, circular economy, clean energy and sustainable development.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Ngo Huong Nam praised Tay Ninh’s strategic vision and competitive advantages, while reaffirming the embassy’s commitment to helping the province attract Dutch and European investors.

During discussions, Dutch businesses proposed specific areas of cooperation with the province, focusing on clean energy, green growth, circular economy and high-tech agriculture.

Maarten Siebe Van Wijk, Director of Dutch agribusiness company The Fruit Republic, said Tay Ninh’s expanded land resources and agricultural advantages following its merger with Long An could support a transition to high-tech fruit cultivation, helping improve farmers’ incomes.

Responding to the proposals, Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh provincial People’s Committee Huynh Van Son said the province pledges to improv the investment climate, accelerate administrative reform and accompany investors throughout project research and implementation.

The conference also saw cooperation agreements between the Dutch Business Association Vietnam and Tay Ninh’s Department of Finance to help Dutch businesses explore local investment opportunities, as well as an agreement between De Heus and Hung Nhon Group to expand high-tech agricultural value chains.

The investment promotion conference is poised to open up new, practical and sustainable cooperation opportunities between Tay Ninh and the European market, building on the Vietnam-Netherlands Comprehensive Partnership cultivated over many years.
