VOV.VN - Vietnam raked in US$35 billion from exporting goods to the Chinese market over the past seven months, up 7.5% from the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).
In July alone, exports to China rose by 2.5% year on year to US$5.7 billion, reported the MoIT.
Leading the export categories in seven months were computers, electronic products, and components, totaling US$9.5 billion, up 39% year on year. Following were phones and components at US$6.55 billion, down 11.3%, and machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts at US$2.86 billion, up 53.9%.
Other export items with strong growth compared to last year included seafood (up 43.8%), rice (up 92.1%), cashew nuts (up 46.8%), and steel (up 174.1%).
China is identified as a key export market for Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry and aquatic products. In addition to vegetables, fruits and aquatic products, Vietnamese businesses are seeking measures to increase market share of products with great potential such as rubber, pepper, and cassava.
