Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line to begin commercial operation this August

VOV.VN - Vietnam's second metro line Nhon-Hanoi Station is preparing to open up to traffic this August, thereby marking a new development milestone in the capital city’s public transport system.

The dual track rail metro line runs for a total length of 12.5km stretching from Nhon to Hanoi railway station, with the line passing through eight elevated stations and four underground stations.

The project initially began construction in 2009 with a completion target of 2015. After undergoing several delays, the elevated section will start operation in August before the entire line is completed ahead in 2027.

When the line officially becomes operational, it is expected to provide a modern, safe, fast, and environmentally friendly means of public transport.

The ticket system has been undergoing a test-run before opening.

All equipment installed in the stations has been imported from Europe.

The boarding pass on the Nhon - Hanoi station route can be used for all other railway routes, such as the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line.

The route will help people to save time and travel costs, while also connecting urban areas and creating favourable conditions for further green and sustainable socio-economic development.

Trains will run from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day, with trains arriving every 10 minutes, according to details given by the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB).

The Nhon - Hanoi Station metro project has a total length of 12.5km from Nhon in Nam Tu Liem district via Kim Ma street to the Hanoi Railway Station in Dong Da district.

Engineers have carried out a series of test-runs to ensure security and safety of the metro line when it is officially put into operation.

Trains running on the Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line are able to reach speeds of 60km per hour.
