VOV.VN - China’s large military transport aircraft Xi’an Y-20 Kunpeng landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on April 25, carrying more than 100 officers and soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China, for Vietnam’s national military parade on April 30.
Upon arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, they quickly moved to Binh Duong province where they were to join armed forces from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia for joint drills in preparation for the national military parade on April 30 to mark 50 years of Vietnam’s southern liberation and national reunification.
The joint military exercise comes ahead of a major state-level military parade rehearsal scheduled for April 25 evening, which will take place along Le Duan Boulevard in front of the Independence Palace in the downtown area of Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnam is preparing to host a state-level celebration on April 30, marking the 50th anniversary of southern liberation and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025).
Over the past weeks, Vietnamese armed forces have practised hard to prepare for the landmark ceremony. Around 200 officers and soldiers from Laos and Cambodia have also joined training sessions over the past few days.
During a rehearsal held on April 19, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defence of Vietnam, confirmed that three international military contingents from China, Laos, and Cambodia would march in the official parade.
He emphasised the importance of providing the best possible logistics and support, noting that the engagement of these foreign military units is “precious and deeply appreciated.”
