VOV.VN - Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet will pay official visits to Vietnam and attend the third ASEAN Future Forum in Hanoi, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The invitations have been extended by Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press communique on June 4.
The ASEAN Future Forum 2026 is scheduled to take place in Hanoi on June 9-10 under the theme “Shaping Our Shared Future Together: Peace, Prosperity and People-Centred.”
The forum is expected to gather senior Vietnamese leaders, officials from several ASEAN member states, representatives of international organisations, research institutes, businesses and local authorities from Vietnam and abroad.
The ASEAN Future Forum is regarded as Vietnam’s first major high-level multilateral diplomatic event following the country’s 14th National Party Congress, the election of the 16th National Assembly and the recent consolidation of key leadership positions.
The forum was first introduced by the Vietnamese Government during the ASEAN Summit in 2023 as an initiative aimed at creating a platform for ASEAN leaders, partners, scholars and businesses to discuss ideas and propose initiatives contributing to the bloc’s long-term development.
The mechanism is designed to complement ASEAN’s formal processes while encouraging broader policy dialogue on regional peace, prosperity and sustainable growth.
The forum is anticipated to focus on major regional and global issues, including economic cooperation, sustainable development, digital transformation, innovation and people-centred governance.
