VOV.VN - Japan is one of Vietnam's leading partners, a trusted friend and long-term companion in the country’s development process, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra told Governor Omura Hideaki of Japan’s Aichi Prefecture in Hanoi on July 10.
She noted that bilateral relations have continued to develop substantively since the two countries upgraded ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with expanding cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, agriculture, local exchanges and people-to-people links.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Vietnam is pursuing long-term development goals of becoming a modern upper-middle-income industrialised country by 2030 and a high-income developed nation by 2045. Meanwhile, Japan continues to play an important role in supporting Vietnam's technological upgrading, human resource development and sustainable economic growth.
Tra said cooperation between localities has become an increasingly important channel for strengthening the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World.
She encouraged Aichi Prefecture to deepen cooperation with more Vietnamese localities, like Hanoi and Phu Tho, while building on its existing partnership with Ho Chi Minh City.
She also called on Aichi to encourage more businesses to expand investment in Vietnam in areas aligned with both sides' strengths, including automobile manufacturing, supporting industries, aerospace, high-tech agriculture, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, digital transformation and smart manufacturing.
Beyond investment, the Deputy PM proposed strengthening cooperation in training high-quality human resources and promoting partnerships among universities, research institutes and businesses in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.
The Government of Vietnam creates favourable conditions for Japanese companies, including those from Aichi Prefecture, to operate and invest successfully in Vietnam, she assured her guest.
Governor Hideaki, for his part, described Aichi as one of Japan's leading manufacturing centres and home to major companies in the automotive, machinery and high-tech sectors.
He said more than 200 companies from Aichi are currently investing in Vietnam and pledged that the prefecture would continue supporting businesses seeking investment opportunities in the country.
The governor also expressed his commitment to expanding exchanges with Vietnamese localities, including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.
VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau received Takebe Tsutomu, special advisor to the Japan–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance, in Hanoi on June 26 to exchange views on promoting cooperation in education, training, and human resource development between the two countries in the new phase.
General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, has praised Japan's cooperation with and support for Vietnam in areas including training, defence industry, technology transfer and war legacy settlement.
VOV.VN - Vietnam has proposed that Japan further simplify visa procedures and eventually grant visa-free entry to Vietnamese citizens, aiming to boost tourism, people-to-people exchanges and broader bilateral cooperation.
