VOV.VN - Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man has called for the successful organisation of the first session of the 16th National Assembly, stressing the need to create fresh momentum and strengthen public confidence for the new term.
The request was made at a meeting on April 5 between the Standing Committee of the National Assembly’s Party Committee and leaders of Party groups of National Assembly delegations from provinces and centrally governed cities.
The meeting focused on final preparations for the first session of the 16th National Assembly, which is set to open in Hanoi on April 6.
The Chairman noted that the session will cover a wide range of critical issues, including high-level personnel arrangements within the state apparatus. Lawmakers are also expected to review and adopt eight draft laws and one resolution, as well as to decide on major national plans for socio-economic development, national defence and security, public finance, public investment, and public debt management for the next five years.
He reiterated remarks by Party General Secretary To Lam, emphasising that challenging periods with urgent and significant tasks are opportunities to demonstrate leadership capacity, governance effectiveness, and the resilience of the political system.
The top legislator urged leaders of provincial and municipal delegations to uphold unity, strengthen coordination with relevant agencies, and closely direct preparations to ensure the smooth and successful organisation of the session.
He expressed confidence that with strong cooperation and thorough preparation, the first session of the 16th National Assembly will create a new atmosphere and renewed public confidence for the new legislative term.
The first session of the 16th National Assembly is scheduled to open on the morning of April 6 at the National Assembly House in Hanoi. The session is expected to last around 11 days and will be held in two phases.
The opening ceremony, set for 8:00 a.m., will be broadcast live on national radio and television channels.
