
VOV.VN - Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son has presented the “For the cause of Vietnam's foreign affairs” insignia to outgoing Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio in recognition of his contributions to both nations’ diplomatic relations.
During their meeting, the FM stated that during the past four-year term of Ambassador Takio, bilateral ties have grown steadily across multiple areas with outstanding achievements being recorded.
The diplomat's efforts and contributions has served to strengthen the friendship and co-operation between the two nations, he said.
The Minister went on to express hope that in the coming time, Ambassador Takio, with his experience, understanding, and affection for Vietnam, will continue to contribute to joint ties in fields such as economics, investment, human resources training, people-to-people and locality-to-locality exchanges, as well as tourism.
For his part, Ambassador Takio thanked the Ministry for supporting and closely co-ordinating efforts with the Japanese Embassy over the past four years amid new and complicated developments occurring in the world and region, especially the COVID-19 pandemic.
He affirmed that no matter what positions he holds, moving forward he will continue to foster the bilateral friendship and ties of co-operation.
