Vietnam, Russia strengthen legal cooperation at St. Petersburg legal forum

During the working session, Chuychenko said Vietnam’s invitation to attend the 14th Saint Petersburg International Legal Forum as the sole guest country demonstratd its important role in shaping international legal development.

He noted that legal cooperation between the two countries stands as a strong example of bilateral cooperation, built on the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Civil and Criminal Matters.

Both sides acknowledged that cooperation activities, including seminars, training and professional exchanges, have been maintained since 2010 and still offer ample room for further development amid an increasingly complex international environment.

According to Hoang Thanh Tung this serves as a testament to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Russia, while proposing the strengthening of activities under the Vietnam-Russia Joint Working Group, promoting training, and sending Vietnamese students to study law in Russia.

The two sides agreed to continue effectively implementing the existing cooperation agreement and prepare for the next phase of the cooperation program, while expanding practical and more effective cooperation in the coming period.

The same day, the two ministers attended the opening ceremony of Vietnam’s National Pavilion, regarded as one of the highlights of the 14th Saint Petersburg International Legal Forum.

The exhibition aims to introduce and promote Vietnam’s notable achievements in institutional and judicial reform, the country’s people, culture and image..
