VOV.VN - Vietnam has so far received nearly US$16 million in emergency relief along with essential supplies from foreign governments and international organisations to support communities affected by recent severe floods and disasters, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The aid will be distributed directly to the hardest-hit areas to ensure it reaches the right beneficiaries and meets urgent needs, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang at a press briefing in Hanoi on November 27.
She added that in recent days, many international friends and foreign tourists in Vietnam have voluntarily joined efforts to assist flood-affected residents, demonstrating a highly appreciated spirit of solidarity.
The Government and people of Vietnam deeply appreciate this timely and invaluable support, Hang emphasised.
Many localities across the country have recently suffered from historic floods, causing extensive loss of life and property.
The Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee launched an appeal to support the affected communities, especially those in the central region that were the hardest hit during the historic flooding.
In response, the international community has sent messages of sympathy and emergency assistance to Vietnam.
