VOV.VN - The Hanoi Centre for Disease Control (CDC) has reported a significant surge in dengue fever cases, with a total of 403 new infections being recorded between October 11 and October 17 to bring the total number up to 4,563 since the beginning of the year.
No fatalities have been reported so far. The disease has spread across 30 districts, with Dong Da, Ba Dinh, Ha Dong, Thanh Oai, and Dan Phuong being the areas hardest hit.
Most notably, the situation remains concerning, particularly as 24 new outbreaks were detected last week in 14 districts.
According to details given by health experts, it represents the peak time of dengue in Hanoi as hot weather and frequent rain have combined to create the ideal conditions for mosquitoes, which transmit the disease, to proliferate.
They note that the number of dengue cases may continue to increase over the weeks. The primary and most effective method of disease prevention is avoiding mosquito bites whilst maintaining a clean environment in order to prevent mosquito breeding, including removing stagnant water.
Facing a complicated situation due to the dengue fever epidemic, the capital’s health sector has also proactively implemented prevention measures and warned citizens about the disease.
VOV.VN - The Hanoi Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has warned that the Breteau index (BI) has exceeded the threshold in several outbreaks in the capital city, making dengue fever increasingly complicated.
