VOV.VN - Bãi Sao (Starfish) Beach on Phu Quoc Island, southern Vietnam, has been ranked 12th among the world’s 50 most beautiful beaches on a 2026 list compiled by global travel website Big 7 Travel.
The 2026 ranking features beaches from around the world, from secluded island destinations to iconic stretches of coastline. The list is based on the beaches’ popularity on social media as well as assessments by its travel experts.
Bãi Sao is the only Vietnamese beach included in this year’s top 50, ranking 12th on the list.
Located in the former An Thoi town, around 25km southeast of Duong Dong by road, Bãi Sao is regarded as one of Phu Quoc’s most scenic beaches.
The beach is known for its soft white sand and clear waters, as well as the starfish that can sometimes be seen along the shore and in shallow waters.
According to local residents, the beach gets its name from the starfish found in the area. The marine creatures have become one of the distinctive features associated with Bai Sao and a popular attraction for visitors.
Anse Source d'Argent of Seychelles claimed top position in the 2026 ranking. Big 7 Travel praised its spectacular scenery, describing the beach as a place where almost every view resembles a postcard.
Entalula Beach of the Philippines came second. The secluded beach can only be reached by boat but has become a popular destination among travelers. It was also named the world’s best beach for 2026 by Time Out.
Indonesia’s Pink Beach on Komodo Island ranked third. Its distinctive pink colour comes from red coral fragments mixing with the sand.
Rounding off the list of top 12 beaches in Big 7 Travel’s 2026 ranking were Sandy Lane Beach ofBarbados, Ee Motu of Cook Islands, Whitehaven Beach of Australia, Matira Beach of French Polynesia, Cala Macarella of Menorca, Spain, Porthcurno Beach,of the United Kingdom, Mirissa Beach of Sri Lanka, and Luskentyre Beach of the United Kingdom.
