Vietnam and China share governance, development experience in new context

The seminar examining experiences of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) in socialism building was organised by the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam to mark the 105th founding anniversary of the CPC and in anticipation of the 100th founding anniversary of the CPV.

Participants noted that over the past century, the two ruling parties have led their respective countries through national liberation, construction and development, achieving significant progress under their respective development paths.

Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei said China has transformed itself from a country facing considerable challenges into the world's second-largest economy.

He highlighted China's achievements in high-speed rail, artificial intelligence, aerospace, quantum science and fifth-generation (5G) communications, describing them as examples of the country's innovation-driven development.

Associate Professor Dr. Dương Trung Y, member of the Party Central Committee and Editor-in-Chief of Communist Review, said that while Vietnam and China have pursued different development models and approaches suited to their national conditions, both have accumulated valuable experience in advancing national development.

Among the key lessons, he highlighted the importance of remaining committed to long-term development goals, continuously strengthening Party leadership and governance capacity, promoting the people's role in national development, and advancing reform and innovation in line with each country's national conditions.

He noted that both countries place people at the centre of development. While the CPC advocates a people-centred development philosophy, the CPV consistently upholds the principle that “the people are the root,” regarding the people as the centre, the driving force and the ultimate beneficiaries of national development.

According to the scholar, the success of socialist development should ultimately be reflected in improving people’s quality of life, well-being and opportunities for comprehensive development.

Participants agreed that expanding theoretical exchanges between the two parties, including thematic seminars, helps strengthen mutual understanding and political trust while providing opportunities to share experience in Party building, national governance and addressing emerging development challenges.

They also noted that, in recent years, the Vietnam–China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership has maintained positive momentum across multiple fields, with theoretical exchanges continuing to serve as an important channel for promoting stable, healthy and sustainable bilateral relations.
