VOV.VN - Ahead of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress for the 2026-2031 term, international labour organisations and development partners have sent congratulatory messages expressing solidarity, confidence and expectations for the future development of Vietnam’s trade union movement.
The messages came from trade union organisations that maintain long-standing cooperative ties with Vietnam across the region and around the world.
In addition to extending wishes for a successful congress, many organisations praised the Vietnam Trade Union system for its efforts in representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers, improving social welfare and renewing operational methods amid evolving challenges in the global labor market.
Major labour organisations including the Lao Federation of Trade Unions (LFTU), the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR), the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB), the Japanese Trade Union Confederation (JTUC-RENGO), the Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL) and several international industrial unions highlighted Vietnam’s contributions to promoting social dialogue, collective bargaining, gender equality and improved living standards for workers.
The organisations also expressed confidence that the 14th Congress would adopt important policies aimed at strengthening trade union activities, improving working conditions and expanding worker welfare programmes while further modernising the Vietnam Trade Union system and deepening its integration into the international labour movement.
Beyond trade union organisations, the congress has also attracted attention and positive messages from international partners working with Vietnam in labour and social development.
The International Labour Organisation (ILO) Office in Vietnam praised the efforts of Vietnam Trade Union organisations in promoting sustainable employment, social justice and workers’ rights protection.
Meanwhile, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), Germany’s IG Metall trade union and Australia’s APHEDA organisation reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour in the coming years.
The congratulatory messages from international friends not only reflect solidarity and longstanding partnerships between Vietnam and global labour organisations but also demonstrate the growing role and reputation of Vietnam’s trade union movement within the international labor community.
The international support is also viewed as an important source of encouragement for the congress as delegates work to define new strategies and practical solutions aimed at building a stronger, more modern and worker-centered trade union system capable of meeting Vietnam’s future development needs.
