Upper Austria, Vietnam forge strategic technology partnership

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Vu Le Thai Hoang met with Governor Thomas Stelzer on July 22 during a working visit to Upper Austria state to discuss measures expanding bilateral trade, investment, high-tech sectors, education, labor, tourism, and cultural links.

During the meeting, Ambassador Hoang outlined Vietnam's major development orientations through 2045, which position science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key growth engines to elevate the nation into a high-income developed country. He emphasized Vietnam's status as an attractive destination for high-quality foreign direct investment in Southeast Asia.

Describing Linz in particular and Upper Austria in general as Austria's "Silicon Valley" with distinct strengths in advanced technology, innovation, and skilled workforce training, the diplomat advocated for tighter links among businesses, research institutes, and universities. He called for joint efforts in artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, robotics, automation, quantum computing, and biotechnology, while sharing plans for the fourth Vietnam-Austria high-tech forum centered on quantum technology, scheduled for December.

Both sides explored opportunities to expand education and labor cooperation, focusing on skilled manpower in nursing, information technology, and mechanical engineering. They devised  plans to tighten university ties and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese students and experts to participate in Austrian training and research programs.

On tourism, with Upper Austria featuring Hallstatt, renowned as one of the world's most picturesque historic villages and a favorite spot for Vietnamese travelers, both sides pledged to promote local destinations, connect travel agencies toward direct flights, and coordinate the upcoming Vietnam-Austria Tourism Forum in Vienna this October.

Ambassador Hoang asked state authorities to continue facilitating stable living, study, and working conditions for the local Vietnamese community, while supporting their upcoming Vietnamese Culture Day in Linz on August 2.

Governor Stelzer applauded Vietnam's socio-economic achievements, particularly its commitment to advancing science, technology, and digital transformation for fast, sustainable growth.

He affirmed Upper Austria's readiness to deepen strategic technology ties with Vietnam, partner with the Embassy on science diplomacy initiatives, and support the upcoming quantum technology forum.

The Governor praised the solidarity, rich cultural identity, and local contributions of the Vietnamese community in Linz, committing continued backing for cultural exchanges and business networking in the time to come.
