VOV.VN - Russian airline Aeroflot is set to launch a twice-weekly scheduled service between Moscow and Phu Quoc from October 15, using wide-body aircraft, while charter flights from Russia to the island are expected to resume in late September, several weeks earlier than last year.
Phu Quoc will become Aeroflot’s third destination in Vietnam with direct scheduled services. The airline currently operates routes from Moscow to Ho Chi Minh City, as well as flights connecting Moscow, Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, and Vladivostok with the central coastal city of Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa province.
The launch comes amid surging demand from Russian tourists for travel to Phu Quoc and Vietnam at large. Russia currently ranks third among international markets sending tourists to Vietnam, recording over 863,500 arrivals throughout July of 2026, up 274% year-on-year, making it the fastest-growing source market for Vietnamese tourism.
Alongside scheduled services, Russian charter flight programs to Phu Quoc will roll out in late September, earlier than mid-October last year, following successful charter operations during the 2025-2026 autumn-winter season.
According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), major travel companies, including FUN&SUN, PEGAS Touristik, Coral Travel, Anex, and Intourist will operate tour programs to Phu Quoc Island for the 2026–2027 autumn-winter season. Tour packages designed for Russian visitors typically feature extended stays at 3- to 5-star hotels.
ATOR has advised tourists to book their winter trips to Phu Quoc early to secure better rates, as last-minute deals will not be available. High-end hotels on the island are already pausing winter bookings, particularly for the year-end holidays, mirroring last year's peak season when high demand made winter hotel reservations difficult as early as late September.
