Party General Secretary To Lam welcomed his Lao counterpart and delegation, affirming that their attendance demonstrates Laos’ strong support for Vietnam’s multilateral initiatives and contributes to the overall success of the global event.
He congratulated Laos on its significant achievements in Party building, constitutional reform, and state governance, which have created new momentum for socio-economic development and strengthened political stability.
Vietnam strongly supports Laos’s renewal process and stands ready to share experience and assist Laos in hosting major national events, he assured his guest.
For his part, Party leader and President Sisoulith praised Vietnam for actively contributing to the convention’s negotiations and for successfully hosting the signing ceremony - a clear reflection of the country’s commitment to cybersecurity and international cooperation in combating transnational crime.
He emphasised that the Convention would serve as an important legal foundation to enhance cybersecurity and promote sustainable development among member states, including Vietnam and Laos.
The Lao leader also praised Vietnam’s remarkable progress over nearly 40 years of Đỏi Mới (Renovation), highlighting its political stability, sustainable economic growth, and rising global standing.
During their meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, noting that their bilateral ties continue to develop substantively across multiple sectors. They agreed to deepen economic cooperation to match the strength of their political relations, promote trade and infrastructure connectivity, and effectively implement key strategic projects to foster sustainable, long-term growth.
Both sides also discussed specific measures to address existing challenges and create favourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises investing in Laos. The leaders exchanged views on recent developments in each country and shared sympathy over the severe losses caused by recent floods and natural disasters.
Amid a rapidly changing global landscape, the two sides agreed to strengthen coordination and mutual support at regional and international forums, including ASEAN, to achieve the development goals of both Parties and nations — particularly the successful organisation of upcoming Party Congresses and National Assembly elections in each country.
