VOV.VN - Prime Minister Le Minh Hung arrived in Kazan on June 16 (local time) to attend the ASEAN–Russia Summit commemorating the 35th anniversary of ASEAN–Russia relations and conduct bilateral activities at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Prime Minister and his entourage were welcomed at Kazan International Airport by Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi, officials from Vietnam’s diplomatic missions and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Russia.
During his working trip, PM Hung is scheduled to participate in activities marking 35 years of ASEAN–Russia relations, hold meetings with Russian and Tatarstan leaders, meet executives of major Russian corporations, attend investment and business networking events, and meet staff of Vietnam’s diplomatic missions as well as members of the Vietnamese community in Russia.
The trip is the Prime Minister’s first visit to Russia in his new capacity and reflects Vietnam’s high regard for the ASEAN–Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The commemorative summit is expected to provide an opportunity for ASEAN and Russia to reaffirm political commitments, inject fresh momentum into cooperation and define strategic directions for future collaboration across the political-security, economic and socio-cultural pillars.
Vietnam has consistently been among the strongest supporters of expanding cooperation between Russia and ASEAN. The visit is projected to further strengthen Vietnam’s role as a bridge connecting Russia with ASEAN and contribute new momentum to ASEAN–Russia relations.
Vietnam is also expected to work closely with other ASEAN member states to promote practical, balanced and results-oriented cooperation with Russia, while helping expand partnerships between ASEAN and the broader Eurasian region.
On the sidelines of the summit, PM Hung is scheduled to hold talks and meetings with leaders of Russia and Tatarstan. He will reassert Vietnam’s consistent policy of valuing its traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia, while expressing Vietnam’s desire to further strengthen cooperation across various sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries.
The meetings will also focus on implementing high-level agreements, addressing existing obstacles and exploring priority areas for cooperation, with the aim of elevating bilateral ties to meet the demands of a new development era.
